2x+10=-34-9x, select like terms: 2x+9x=-34-10, 11x=-44, divide through by 11, x=-4

2x + 10 = -34 -9x Your first step, is to add 34 to both sides of the equation, to eliminate -34. 2x + 44 = -9x Your second step, is to add 9x to both sides of the equation, to eliminate the -9x 11x = 44 You now know 11 multiplied by something gives 44. So x = 4 Hope this helped.
