2x+10 = -34 - 9x
2x + 9x =-34-10 = -44
11x = -44
x = -44/11=-4

2x+10=-34-9x, select like terms: 2x+9x=-34-10, 11x=-44, divide through by 11, x=-4

2x + 10 = -34 -9x
Your first step, is to add 34 to both sides of the equation, to eliminate -34.
2x + 44 = -9x
Your second step, is to add 9x to both sides of the equation, to eliminate the -9x
11x = 44
You now know 11 multiplied by something gives 44.
So x = 4
