An athlete rotates his body before throwing the discus. give reasons?

I believe that the reason for this would be that it means that he has more potential energy that can then be translated into power in the throw.
As the person untwists their body they have speed and energy that is released into the throw, a little like you have more energy when you are running quickly than when you are still so you have more energy when you are coiled up and then unwind.
