Can I fake being confident?

Yes you can actually fake confidence, and indeed many people who seem to be quite confident actually say that they are shy inside and have spent their entire life acting.
If you want to be confident then many say that is the trick of it - just to act as though you are confident, and other people will buy into that and think that you are actually are confident!
