Carbon and Elements
Question asked by: Lilyan2009

Carbon is an element because if you look at something composed of carbon, it cannot be split into different building blocks.
If you imagine a lego model there are different pieces. Well, carbon is like a lego model built of only one piece. In other words, all the building blocks of anything made purely out of carbon are the same - the atoms all look the same as they are all of the same atomic number.
Hence carbon is an element.
