Crescent moon

when the moon is in its crescent phase: when viewed from Miami the crescent is always on the bottom when viewed from Chicago the crescent is always on the side Why the difference?

This is basic geometry - when you view an object from different angles then you see it differently.

Just think how different a tree looks from above than from the side, for instance.
