Does a hairdryer hurt my hair?

There has been debate about the effect of hairdryers on hair.

Certainly when you have the hairdryer on a very hot setting or if you hold it too close to the head then you can start to feel your scalp burning which is not a very pleasant feeling, and extreme heat isn't good for any part of the body.

Therefore when using a hairdryer try not to overuse it or hold it too close set on hot - this is probably where the risk of damage comes from as you can frazzle and dry out the hair by drying it for too long when wet.
