Does the experience machine show reality isn't all it is cracked up to be?
Question asked by: mrquestion

The experience machine is an interesting thought experiment I think by Nozick, and it basically says if you could be plugged into a machine that gave you a much better experience of reality, then would you want to disconnect from it, even if you knew that what you were experiencing was not full reality?
This was then taken up in the thought provoking movie the Matrix, where the Matrix was a fake world and some were quite happy to be in the Matrix even if they knew it was not the ultimate reality, whilst others wanted to know the ultimate reality for themselves.
