Earth formation
Question asked by: Averageman
Asked on: 06 Dec 2009
The earth is thought to have formed from lots of small rocky fragments that got brought together at this distance from the sun by their mutual gravities and smashing into them, this then formed into the shape of the ball that is earth again through gravity and started orbiting the sun.
At first they were all very hot from the impacts and the energy released but then as they cooled a solid crust formed, and inside the earth there is still a lot of hot, liquid rock to this day.
