Explain why automobile maker might want to replace steel parts with plastic parts?

There are many reasons that thye might prefer plastic.
There may be cost plays in action, i.e it would cost less.
It may be that it is easier to shape a certain plastic into the shape they need.
There may be chemical properties such as the inert nature of the plastic that is attractive compared to the steel that may rust, and there may be plastics that have properties that are more desirable, e.g. more or less rigid, brittle and so on and so forth.
