Gases- how does the temperature of the walls of a container affect collisions?

Gas molecules make perfectly elastic collisions with the walls of the container. This assumption is not necessary as long as the walls are at the same temperature as the gas. Why is this?

Because at a different temperature it affects the movement / motion of the molecules. If it is at the same temperature then this would not happen therefore you would not need to make that assumption to keep the calculations simple.
