Genetics

Why do some children look more like there mother and others look more like their fathers?
Question asked by: skr12354

Asked on: 18 Feb 2010

There are various reasons for this being the case.

The key one of course is the genetics of the situation.

Basically we all inherit characteristics from both parents the mother and the father. Some of these are recessive and others are dominant.

If the child tends to get more of the dominant ones from one parent than the other, then this will explain why they look like that parent more than the other.
