How can I clean an oil stain from a wool jumper?
Question asked by: knowitall
Removing oil based stains from wool can be quite tricky.
Here is one method to get that oil out of the wool:
First, scrape off any readily removable excess of oil that there may be that has solidified on top.
Now use a dry spotter to this area, and use an absorber pad on top on top.
Whilst this is working, and removing stain, leave it. Once that's done, swap over with another.
Now use a dry cleaning solvent on the item and then allow to drain.
This should then remove the stain from the wool and the oil is gone.
