How can I create a power source for a speaker?

I soldered an audio plug end to a speaker so I can plug in my mp3 player and let everyone listen to it. Turns out the speaker sucks a lot of power and takes it all from my mp3 player. How can I create a power source for the speaker so it doesnt drain my mp3 player battery?

Probably cheaper just to buy some proper speakers and plug them in isn't it?

Most MP3 players can be bought a docking station they fit in that is mains powered and connects it to speakers or simply connect the audio out into fixed mains powered speakers.
