How can i pick the perfect dog for a family and perswade my dad?

In my family i have my mum (who likes dogs), my dad(who dosen't like dogs :( ), my brother who has autism9who i think likes dogs) and me and i LOVE dogs and want one!!! BUT, first I need the perfect breed and lots of info so i can back it up when i TRY and perswade my dad! please please please help!!! :D x
