How can i remove carpet tape from our carpet?

Carpet tape can be a real pain to remove, I say from experience!

I found that it was OK to pull of the carpet tape with force but that a sticky residue got left which was harder to clean.

In the end I found that elbow grease combined with warm water and washing up liquid was the best method.

I applied a few times over the course of a week until gradually it all went and the sticky residue from the carpet tape was easily removed. If there is an easier and quicker way then I'm afraid I don't know what it is!
