How can I stop getting spam emails?

If you get spam emails, then this can be very frustrating, and we all seem to get more and more.
First up, if you have your email published anywhere online then take it off - there are robots that go around the net looking for email addresses and adding them to spam lists, so take those off.
Next get a good spam blocker like spam assassin and use it to filter your email, it will do a good job and remove most spam.
Then periodically check the spam folder just to ensure that nothing that shouldn't have been caught as spam has been through into the spam folder.
