How do glow-worms glow?
Question asked by: knowitall
The female glow-worm possesses a lantern which is used to signal to a winged mate to fly above.
The lantern has a see through layer of skin, like a lens of a lamp. Behind this is an oily layer of tissues that produces light through chemical reactions, and another layer that acts as a reflector.
