How do I crop a photo?

To crop a photo there are various ways of doing it, all of which require the relevant software package.
For a free one you can get infanview which will do the job well.
Then all you do is open the photo, select the area that you want to crop by dragging a thin rectangle with the mouse from the top left to bottom right, then use the menus and pick crop which I think is also Ctrl + Y keyboard shortcut and there you go!
