How do I make a website more usable?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Get user feedback and find how users currently are using the website in order to improve the usability.

You can do clever things like get customers in front of the screen and then use eyeball tracking software to find what they look at on the page and whether it is what you want them to be looking at or not.

Prepare simple scripts for them to follow and see how easy it is for them to achieve common tasks, then find the difficult spots and work on them to improve accordingly.
