The best way to remove ink from a ballpoint pen from something like a carpet is to use a little alcohol.
Specifically, the best to use would be a little rubbing alcohol, for instance one that is isopropyl based, and then simply rub with a clean white cloth or paper towel.
This should enable you to both rub off but without affecting the material of the carpet underneath. Good luck!
