How do I work out the actual income from a part time job?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 06 Jan 2010

The actual income from a part time job can be slightly tricky to work out if the annualised figure is given.

However it will typically not be too hard to work out.

Let's say the full time is 35 hours and they quote the full time salary as £20,000.

Then if the part time work is 17.5 hours or half a week then to find out what you actually earn, you just divide 35 by 17.5 to get 2, and then divide £20,000 by 2. So this means that the actual income in this case would be £10,000 based on that number of working hours.
