How do we know how many days to have in a year?
Question asked by: mrquestion

It is not arbitrary.
The earth orbits the sun, and the time that it takes for the earth to fully orbit the sun is known as a year.
So from this figure and from our measurement of a day it is quite straightforward to work out how many days there need to be in a year and this works out as 365.25 roughly.
