How do you clean the green algae of garden pebbles and rockery stones?

I have some very pretty coloured garden stones, but unfortunately these are mostly in the shade and therefore over the winter they turn green with algae- please could anyone advise me as how to clean them. they can be removed to immerse in a bucket.

Try rubbing them hard with something like a scourer from the kitchen, this should remove the algae. If not apply something like fairy liquid or other washing up liquid to help loosen and then scrub hard.
