How do you get the confidence to meet new people when you're shy?

When you're shy it can be very difficult and even traumatic to meet new people even if that does sound a bit silly.
But people build themselves up and saying and saying they are going to ask someone out that they like. The longer you leave it the harder it gets.
In terms of meeting people when shy the best thing is actually not to think about it. If you go to a party with the express intention of meeting someone then you won't enjoy the party and will get tense.
If you just go out with your friends in a group to have fun with your friends then you may just naturally bump into someone and click and if it happens like that it is much better than stressing yourself out about it and always being on the look out for that special someone.
