How do you make a freedom of information request?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 19 Jan 2010

To make a freedom of information request in the UK is quite straightforward, and the body that you write to must reply to you within 20 days.

There are a number of websites that explain the freedom of information process in more detail and what the steps are, but for a clear outline then you can try this government website:

http://www.foi.gov.uk/yourRights/index.htm#how

That tells you your rights with regard to the freedom of information act and how to make a request for information under it in the UK.
