How do you remove mould from paintings

How do you remove mould from an oil painting without damaging or discolouring the paint or canvas
Question asked by: maclen

That sounds like it would be pretty tricky to do as clearly any usual method would potentially damage the painting too.

I recommend going to an antiques expert or a similar establishment and asking them for advice on how to do this, as there might be some specialist cleaning product that is designed just for that job.
