How has technology influenced the last century?

Technology has had a great influence on us in the last century and it's only by looking back we can see how far we have come.
Gadgets now override our lives and nothing is more prolific than the mobile phone which has put us all in touch with everyone all of the time, together with computers which have changed so many things about the way we live.
We trust computers with our lives daily, for instance when you go on a flight lots of the things that happen are automatically controlled by computer program such as the pressure levels in the cabin as the plane ascends and then comes back down to earth and so forth.
Television and LCD and games and medical technological advancements and science in general have made all this possible; ironic then science is seen as uncool and more and more people are doing fluffy easy subjects instead.
