How long should I dry my hair for?

People differ in their views on how much you should dry your hair.
For many the recommendation is actually to use the heat setting on the hair dryer just to stop the hair being really wet, but you should then let the last of the moisture go by letting it dry naturally in the air.
This is probably because too much heat for too long a time or too close to the hair can actually damage the hair because the heat affects some of the constituent parts of the healthy hair.
