How many types of puzzle are there?

There are hundreds of types of puzzles.
It also depends how much you count all the variants - for instance do the hundreds of types of sudoku count as separate types of puzzles or just a variant of a type?
Either way there are a huge number of puzzles out there, I don't think anyone has ever compiled a list that attempts to be totally comprehensive!
