How much money should I invest in stocks and shares?
Question asked by: knowitall

It is up to you and your personal circumstances how much money you invest in stocks and shares.
However one thing is common and all advisors repeat it - never invest in stocks and shares more than you can afford to lose, just in case the worst happens and the company goes bust or stops trading or their shares crash to zero or similar value.
As a general guide most people recommend that you therefore don't look to put more than 10% of your total wealth in stocks and shares.
