I did not work for a while should I list that on my CV?

If there is a gap on your CV then the best thing you can do is simply to be prepared to answer the question at interview.
People expect these days that those they employ don't necessarily have unbroken employment. If you want to address it you could write something like 2008 - 2009 career break or similar and then offer more at the interview, but it is possible they won't even notice a break in your period of employment at all!
