I have a good idea for a tv show. An independant production company wants me to pitch them it, but I dont want them to steal it. Is there anyway I could protect my idea whilst still pitching it? Thanks in advance for your answers.

This is a tough one and is always the catch-22. If you have a great idea then most normal people can't develop it themselves so need to pitch it but risk it being stolen.
What you should do as a minimum is send a sealed copy to yourself in the post and ensure that you don't open it, this is proof you had the idea.
Then if they don't like the idea but launch the show then you can reveal that it was your idea. Of course if it gets adapted from your idea then it can be hard to prove conclusively.
