I have been told to network but I'm shy what can I do?

The great thing about the modern world is that you can network with people without even meeting them!
I am speaking, of course, of the phenomenon that is online networking. Whilst not everyone's cup of tea if you are shy then you can do this to meet people online.
And in fact it can be quite effective and lead to business and therefore derive real value so it is not pointless as some may think it would be.
