Identify these stones

I have a small business dedicated to the restoration of samurai swords. I sharpen and polish them in the traditional method and to do that I require a verity of polishing stones. Unfortunately, all the stones is from Japan and quite expensive. Question: If I send pictures of the stones is there anyone that can identify their geological make up and tell me if stones like them can be found here in the U.S.? Regards Rick

Wow, that's the trickiest question I think I've seen posted on this site!

I doubt anyone here would have that knowledge unless you get really lucky - could you contact a local geology unit at a university or similar, that might be your best bet to get the specialist knowledge you need?
