If aliens exist then where are they?
Question asked by: mrquestion

This is known as the Fermi question in cosmology because if there are so many aliens out there, then where are they.
The equation that was produced by Drake which was a crude estimate for how much alien life out there still suggested there was vast amounts.
So there are two options. Either there isn't actually that much life out there (or less than we thought) OR the significant limiting factor: the sheer size of space (and the time taken to traverse it) means that there is actually a relatively small chance of different civilisations that spring up being able to communicate with each other.
