If theres no one around, does a tree needs to make a sound when it falls?
Question asked by: loisse

A tree does not need to do anything.
The laws of physics dictate what happens, and we believe that these are the same universally everywhere.
Therefore if a tree falls and there is air or a medium for sound to travel, then the molecular vibrations that result would be picked up by an animal within range as a sound: however if there is no animal there then there is nothing to consciously register the vibrations of the air molecules as a sound.
