If time stopped then started again would we ever know about it?

This is a good question.

If time stopped, literally, and everything on earth just went into suspended animation, then we would not know about it, under two caveats.

First if the entire universe stopped then we could never know about it at all.

Second, if only the earth stopped then we could find out about it. For instance if we all wake up a few months later completely unaware of course what has happened there could be clues from elsewhere: if Mars is unaffected then we may notice it is in an unexpected position in the sky and likewise for other celestial objects.
