If you are popular on YouTube can you have a career in TV?

Well the two don't go hand in hand!

There are many people who are very popular on YouTube in terms of the number of people that view their material but they do it for fun as a hobby.

Making the transition to TV is hard as people need to know who you are and the audience between TV and youtube may not have a lot of crossover depending on what the TV show targets, for instance one with beauty tips for older people none of them will know who you are even if lots of people watch your beauty tips online, say.

However there might be opportunities when approaching media companies for work to use the youtube information and popularity to show that people are interested in what you have to say, this looks good and could lead to you getting a job or at least helping you to get a job as a result of that!
