If you date a junior colleague do you need to disclose it?
Question asked by: mrquestion

If you date a colleague who is junior to you then in some companies you will need to disclose it. It really depends where you work.
In many companies, in fact in most, there are several relationships between members of staff, and these days a large number of people do meet their partner in the workplace. So the first thing to say is that it is not going to surprise anyone.
However if you are the direct boss of the person you are dating then it should perhaps be told to the next level boss just so they know and it might be considered appropriate to move the reporting lines to remove that potential issue.
