Alesha Dixon is indeed a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.
Her performance has been heavily criticised by the media because they felt that she did not know enough about dancing in the way that Arlene Phillips did. In part this was through sympathy and there was accusations that the BBC was being ageist in getting rid of Arlene, accusations which the BBC said were not true and that they were just freshening up the format.
Many viewers were irritated by the fact that Alesha did not use grammatically correct English such as "you was great", and had an aversion to the use of the word "were", however criticisms subsided during the course of the series presumably as viewers got used to the replacement for Arlene.
