Is it better to contribute to society or be famous?

This depends on your point of view.
I think historically everyone would say that it is better to contribute to society.
However we seem to live in the day and age where celebrity is everything, therefore I fear that young people growing up today in the main would rather to be famous rather than to actually contribute something valuable to society.
