Is it expensive to learn to be a photographer?

Not necessarily, if you are happy to learn on the side as it were then you can simply pay for the digital camera and start taking photos and maybe buy a book.
It gets expensive if you have really good equpiment or alternatively if you go on a course or do a degree in photography etc as instruction and tuition is always costly.
