Is it harder for older women to work in television?
Question asked by: mrquestion

There has been a lot of discussion in the UK recently about this and how there seem to be many more older men in television than there are older women.
There was a period where the BBC was accused of being ageist against women presenters - which it denied - where Arlene Phillips was kicked off Strictly Come Dancing and replaced with Alesha Dixon.
But generally it does seem to be more of a challenge for older women to stay in television in non-acting roles than for men.
