Is java the same as javascript?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Many people get confused by this, but actually despite the name being very similar, they are very different animals indeed!

JavaScript is a simple scripting language that is used to add a bit of interactivity to websites. Actually it is having something of a revival at the moment and proving very popular as more and more sites look to add interactivity and better features to their site than flat content that the web has been known for in the past.

Java is a full programming language by contrast and creates programs called applets; and as it can run cross platform is a popular programming language for all sorts of programs that can be written in the language.
