Is studying business at school important?

Getting an understanding of the business world can be very useful.
Whilst it is important to get a good academic grounding the reality is most of this is not needed in the workplace at all, and therefore there are arguments for doing things that are of more practical advantage in the real world such as an understanding of business and how they operate and run.
