Is too much information made available to the public these days?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 19 Jan 2010

There is certainly a huge amount of information out there in the public domain these days.

Whether it is through freedom of information or simply due to the explosion in content on the internet that is being published day in day out, this is certainly what could be called the information age.

What is also unusual is how much potentially valuable information is there for free; for instance that which newspapers pay journalists millions between them to write is often published for free on websites, and many people write detailed wikipedia entries just for the satisfaction of it leading to this being in the public domain too.
