Light Reflections

On hot days, one feels as if water were covering sand or asphalt roads ahead.Explain.

Presumably you are talking about so-called mirages, whereby the heat makes you think you are seeing things.

Or perhaps the effect of a heat haze whereby the suns rays are hot and the reflection of the rays off the ground makes it look like heat is being given off.
