Meaning of 'OUT OF"

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF 'out of" (percentages) when you say 10 out of 100? I am trying to visualize it because we don't have that expression in spanish. In spanish we can't say "sacarle 10 a 100" because "sacarle" means substraction. thank you so much

10 out of 100 means "10 from 100".

For instance, if you have 100 apples in a box, and you take 10 out of 100 from the box, then you are left with 90 apples.
