Use algebra to solve this one like so:
There are 43 coins i a purse.There are some 1-dollar,50-cent and 20-cent coins in it.The total value of these coins is $36.30.How many 50-cent coins are there?
So we write this as:
36.30 = 50x + 20y + z
... then simply solve this to work out the relative number of each.
