How to mow a lawn

i have been told there is a right way and a wrong way to mow a lawn. how would a professional gardener mow a lawn.

There is not really a right way and wrong way, as long as you ensure that you give it an even cut that is fine.

It could be this is with regard to cutting it to get strips looking darker and some lighter - if you want to do this you will need to be consistent and do all cuts going one way then the others in the reverse direction.
